How It All Began
After years of struggling to keep his weight under control, while facing the ever increasing appetite caused by longer endurance events, Zane was introduced to a new way of nutritional thinking. He made the switch from fueling his body with carbs to fueling it with fat. As you can see from the photo, the change was dramatic (that guy in the blue shirt had been training high mileage for 6 months, and jut ran 50 miles 2 weeks prior!). Everyone's body is different, but with any luck this will help a few people either increase their athletic performance, decrease their weight, improve their productivity or all of the above.


Zane has built the Destin Beach Ultra Runs from the sand up to a nationally-recognized ultra-marathon that has been featured on the cover of UltraRunning Magazine, numerous news articles, blogs and TV spots.  In addition to being a 17-year Air Force veteran with 11 years in special operations, Zane has also co-directed several other high-profile races, including Six Days in the Dome, in which runners achieved 68 world records, 20 American records, and was featured for two weeks on ESPN.com.  He also is a pilot with a major US air line, the owner of a retail store, Beyond 214, and owner of a race timing business, International Running Company. 

In addition to directing several races, Zane has also successfully completed numerous marathons, the Destin Ultra Runs 50 mile course, the Highland Sky 40 mile, JFK 50 mile and 60 miles in 24 hours.  His failure to complete the Leadville 100 continues to drive him to improve his running and diet in order to get the most out of his body.
